Sims 2 download help?

Ok, so I had The Sims 2 for awhile. but then I saw things that can be downloaded off website of The Sims 2 for free. I downloaded the garage add-on and download the Ford Mustang. I opened them and everything and the auto-installer says it installed fine and everything. but when I started playing I could not find when I went to build my house. I have no expansion discs or anything, just the basic game. but the site said that all he needed was the game. Anyone know?

Sure you mark the box that says enable custom content when you load the game. If not, then not show up.
